He sets out to provide a view of our own world made into others, unblinkingly etching out a labyrinthine, dystopic Edinburgh that is also the world that is also the art world that is also himself; a gallery of art rogues and a scopophiliac critic-detective; Renaissance magic run through MS-DOS; silent operatic films; Ossaniac myths through Macphersonic authenticity, blending fiction and believable fantasy.
Robert has attempted to give birth, into galleries, a vast visual encyclopaedia of symbols, allegory, humour and metaphysical musing in many media, including installation, painting, drawing, print, sculpture, video, text and jigsaw. The artist also enjoys making ludicrous claims of almost lewd grandiosity.
